I
n our opinion, Atlanta-based rapper Waka Flocka Flame had the best performance of both days. Based on how the Queens native recording artist’s fans behaved, we can say that the energy levels were the highest. Everyone seemed to dance. His requests for crowd participation was met with open arms, and his hype men (Frenchie and Instagram comedian Fatboy SSE) were right for the gig. We think what made it best is the ability to mix multiple genres like Hip-Hop/Trap and EDM. When it was time for the EDM to commence, the crowd went crazy—including me. Young girls and a teenage boy pulled me into their circle to dance with them. It’s the kind of culture I am used to as a non-Hip-Hop festival goer. PLUR, all day. If you aren’t familiar with expressions, or phrases, from the rave culture, it means Peace Love Unity Respect.
Have a look at the performance photos and see more coverage of the two day festival on the next page.
