A week ago we went to DJ Khaled’s album signing event at Jimmy Jazz in Harlem (239 West 125th Street). Previous to his tardy arrival, there were so many fans outside — lined up around the block — to meet him that they caused a frenzy. Rightfully so, it took some time for his vehicle to get through the sea of humans. Not as warm as we thought he would be, then again, we don’t know what it is to be him, Khaled Mohamed Khaled walked into the retail store amid hundreds of fans on West 125th Street.

He sat on his royal throne, and people started to walk in his direction. People of different ages and ethnicities posed around him. He signed albums and allowed fans to hug him. Through it all, he barely smiled. However, when he made Snapchat videos, he was “on”. DJ Khaled seemed to have a different persona on the app. We’re sure Khaled has a lot on his mind (and is under tremendous amounts of pressure) all the time. As a woman, we don’t like when men ask us to smile so I won’t do that. However, we’re fans, and we don’t want to worry about your well-being. We admire you, DJ Khaled. Be conscious and smile a little more. It makes us happier.

With DJ Khaled; Not a smile in sight. #ThatsNotAMajorKey (😀) #GrungeCake

Harlem-bred We The Best artist Vado attended with an entourage. Epic Records staff were present, and the Ruff Ryders were also in the building. We’d like to personally thank Jimmy Jazz for the invitation, and invite you to view the photo gallery.
