Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending compound fractured and dislocated right ankle on Oct. 11, 2020, playing the New York Giants. Three hundred fifty-one days later, Dak returns to AT&T stadium for MNF against rival Philidelphia Eagles. It was an emotional pregame for Dak, hearing the crowd cheer louder and louder as he went through his warm-up. Once the national anthem begins, Dak uses that time to reflect on the work to return to the field. “As I said, usually the national anthem or pregame [are] the moments that I take in, and that was one of them. Yeah, just thankful for everything I’ve been through and got me back to this point,” said Dak postgame.
In the first three minutes of the game, the Cowboys took the lead and never looked back. The Cowboys offensive had their way with Eagles defensive rushing and passing, putting over nearly 400 yards of offence. The Eagles couldn’t seem to get out their way, being penalised 13 times for 86 yards. Struggles on the defence carried over to the offence as Jalen Hurts threw two interceptions, and one returned for a touchdown. Eagles were able to score a late touchdown with a connection between Hurts and Ward but didn’t affect the outcome, final score 41-21 Cowboys victory.
As week three concluded, Dallas Cowboys looked like the best team in the NFC East, heading back to playoffs.
