Last week, Red Bull Sound Select artist Cakes Da Killa released “Hunger Pangs.” Featuring Cakes’ signature, upfront attitude and cut-throat vocals, “Hunger Pangs” shows a new side of the New York rapper. The album drops fresh off favorable reviews from his latest single “I Run This Club” and follows the rising star’s first mixtape, “The Eulogy,” released in January 2013 on Mishka NYC.

This mixtape Hunger Pangs was inspired by all the traveling I’ve been doing this past year,” said Cakes on the inspiration behind his newest music. “The production is definitely heavier, the flows are more jam packed and the hooks are signature in-your-face Cakes. I’m finally coming into my own as a rapper and I’m just doing me — lyrically and spiritually.
“Hunger Pangs” features collaborations with rising local artists Wildkatz, SXYLK, V I S I O N, LSDXOXO, Moonbase Commander, Hanz Durkyl, and more. This Summer, Cakes Da Killa will embark on a national tour, performing in San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles and Philadelphia before returning to New York City to perform at AFROPUNK festival in August.
