A Boogie wit da Hoodie joins Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 to discuss his new song ‘Water (Drowning Pt 2)’ (featuring Kodak Black) from his new album ‘Me vs Myself’ due out later this week. He tells Apple Music about the origin of the song and re-connecting with Kodak Black, says the new project is his best yet, reflects on losing PnB Rock and including a song with him on the Deluxe, and more.

A Boogie wit da Hoodie tells Apple Music about reconnecting with Kodak Black on ‘Water (Drowning Pt 2)’

When I heard the beat, I already knew from the jump. I heard the beat and I was like, oh yeah, this is another genre hit. I just throw with the same type of, not the same flow, but that same rhythm where you just ride the beat. You know what I’m saying? I feel like Drowning was just a whole new start to something new when it comes to that time. You know what I’m saying? Right now we just keeping that energy going, and that never ends. That never ends. I take my breaks or whatever I do, but I feel like right now I’m at a point where I just want to let go every three months. I want to let go of the clip every three months right now for the next years, so I apologize to all my fans on that base. Know what I’m saying?

A Boogie wit da Hoodie tells Apple Music his forthcoming album ‘Me vs Myself’ is his best project

It was a lot of negative things going on at the time I was making the album. I appreciate everything that literally happens in my life towards bringing it out to the music anyway. This feels like my best project in that way where I can really listen to something in the car, something in the crib at the same time I was going out, still hearing it in the club. This is my favorite vibe right now.

When it comes to PnB Rock too, that was a big one right there. That was the end of my album. I didn’t expect that right there. I had to put him on the album at the same time as not making it. I don’t like to do that when it comes to people passing away, putting their music. It feels like a weird tension towards that. And I don’t like that at all so I separated his song from my album and I’m dropping it solo as a deluxe

A Boogie wit da Hoodie tells Apple Music about the importance of taking his time releasing music

…it’s hard to do something while you’re thinking about doing something. You just got to live through it. When you actually start to live through it, that’s when you actually start the project, right there, boom. And then that’s when it’s like good, bad things happen, and you never know where you end up.
