In her classic poetic style, Griselda Records’ Keisha Plum keeps it gutter on the Cas1-produced ‘Lipgloss On Blunts’ by expressing boss overtones like being as dope as Smoke DZA mixed with RZA, only wants you on the weekend like SZA, and is as fresh as Raekwon in Diodora. Often wanting to know what the women around powerful men are thinking, the illustrative one-minute plus performance offers a peek into a mysterious lifestyle. You’ve heard rappers get descriptive of the exterior and interior of their prized possessions. However, you haven’t heard anything like this. You don’t know anyone who refers to their navy blue jeep with “cherry guts” interior as Buffalo Jill, nor can you relate unless you are a woman who smokes weed, dates gangsters, confident, and is protected by the silent assassins of the streets.
Sex aside, the Buffalo artist also assures you that she will lyrically run circles around any man who thinks he can compete. Listen to the song. It is a perky ode to Hip-Hop and everything it represents, then and now.
