LYLOH’s promises to win at both occupations.
In a usual chain of events, aspiring artists email files for me to look at, listen to, and give my honest opinion, which is all good as long as they are respectful and are at least grammatically correct when they approach me. However, misspelling my name or believing that my name is Richard makes me feel a mental pang best described as a teething toddler chewing on a teat. (It happens to me at least once a week, and you’d think I’d be used to it by now but no.)
Representing Inland Empire — a desert community that artists we’ve supported in the past, and continue to support call home — LYLOH is an artist-slash-law-student with an airy voice and a different storyline. On “Here,” she sings lyrics about making promises and sacrifices, and “Sleep Easy” sounds like a song about a lover who can nest comfortably during the time of vulnerability.
