Macy Gray Premieres Video For “Bang Bang”

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Following the recent news of both her Fall North American tour and her forthcoming album “The Way”, set for release on October 7th, Macy Gray premiered the video for new bluesy single “Bang Bang” this week. The video was unveiled just in time for the song’s official U.S. release on iTunes.

The video, directed by Stanley M. Brooks, features the record-breaking long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad. The 64-year-old, who famously swam from Cuba to Miami non-stop last year, poses as a sharp-dressed poker player who loses her first hand and quickly exits the scene before the night takes a more sinister turn. Having Diana in the video meant a lot for Macy as she feels Diana represents female empowerment and strength. “She’s actually a really good actress!” Macy recently explained to ELLE Magazine for the premiere of the video.

With a colorful career that includes multiple Grammy, Billboard, MTV and BRIT Awards, and record sales of over 25 million worldwide, the integrity and innovation of Macy Gray’s artistry has allowed her to forge her own path to success and win fans and critics from all around the world. Her music transcends genres, from Experimental Soul and Alternative Rock, to Retro-Disco and Hip-Hop.

Now, with the release of her forthcoming studio album titled “The Way”, out on October 7th, the truly gifted songwriter and brilliantly unique vocalist offers us a taste of what’s to come with this raw and bluesy new track and video for “Bang Bang”.

“The Way” (Macy’s eighth studio album), was written and recorded during her highly successful 14th anniversary tour for On How Life Is and is set for release on October 7th, 2014 on Moonslice Records via KOBALT Label Services. Be sure to catch Macy and her band live on the road this Fall in continued support of her highly-anticipated album. More exciting news to come.
