“Wire, wire. Send that.”

Five days ago, Abuja-raised rising rapper NO11 shared a lighthearted music video for his catchy new track ‘Coachella’ with Gabzy. In it, he signs a life-changing contract as an athlete. Dubbed “The Rookie of the Year” by the press, NO11 addresses the media at his press conference. During the press junket, he mentions high-quality garb (“That one no be made in China”), his life’s ascension and speaks his attendance at the Met Gala and Coachella into existence.
Next, British-Nigerian Gabzy adds a verse, acknowledging Yung Miami’s infectious ‘Spend Dat’ and warns his species. Candidly, he described a pretty-faced young woman who he believes men should stay away from because they are out of their league. Before his time ends, he reveals that he is not a nepo baby, but he has plans to father a lot of them.
To be frank, the song’s hook made me laugh when I first heard it. I see the lyrics as a fun way to poke fun at Nigerian stereotypes surrounding nepotism delicately and the quintessential Nigerian babe.
