Listen to Crown Ape’s lead single ‘Who Dat Girl?’ featuring Boj and Olexesh

Today, Nigerian Alté pioneer Boj unleashed a collaboration between himself, German rapper Olexesh and Crown Ape. Incorporating English with their mother tongues, the artists cover various themes. The fun fusion moment mentions having wealth, wanting to be prayed for, being from the streets and the lifestyle. Other things that could have been said, but my ears aren’t trained enough to translate or dissect Yoruba or German. Based on my research, Olexesh is of Ukrainian and Belarusian descent. He was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. He is known for making palatable “aggressive, street-themed Hip-Hop”.
Crown Ape is the dot connecting visionary force, pairing these artists from distinct cultures together. More is to come, as ‘Who Dat Girl?’ is the first record from the forthcoming extended play. The project led by British Nigerian disruptor Ikenna Donald’s goal is to “bring(ing) together major artists from Africa and Europe on one ambitious project. It also serves as a strong introduction to their wider world, turning cultural difference into creative fuel.”
As for the woman of the hour, she’s a nasty girl who appears to behave like a vacuum cleaner. It’s quite a skill. With that said, stream the cross-continental groove below. It’s a good one for the dance floor in Europe.
