Gnarls Barkley end 18-year hiatus with ‘Pictures’, announce final album ‘Atlanta’

After nearly two decades away from the spotlight as a duo, Gnarls Barkley have officially returned with new music and the promise of a farewell. On February 26, 2026, the iconic pairing of CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse dropped ‘Pictures’, their first single in eighteen years, and simultaneously announced their third and final album, ‘Atlanta’, due for release on March 6, 2026.
Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, Gnarls Barkley first burst onto the global scene in the mid-2000s. Their debut album ‘St Elsewhere’ spawned the monster hit ‘Crazy’, a track that went on to become synonymous with the duo’s blend of Soul, Alternative and Hip-Hop sensibilities. Their second record, ‘The Odd Couple’ (2008), was followed by a long hiatus as both artists pursued separate creative paths.
‘Pictures’ draws from Green’s personal memories of growing up in Atlanta. In press remarks, he explained that the song reflects childhood days spent riding the city’s MARTA transit system—an experience that became a metaphor for life moving around you whilst you try to find your place within it.

‘Atlanta’ will feature thirteen tracks, opening with ‘Tomorrow Died Today’ and including themes that radio audiences can only guess at from intriguing titles like ‘I Amnesia’, ‘Line Dance’, ‘Turn Your Heart Back On’, and ‘Boy Genius’. Fans have been anticipating this reunion for years—Green and Danger Mouse hinted at new work as early as 2017, but creative ventures and outside projects kept the record on hold until now.
This final chapter isn’t just a nostalgic comeback; it’s a full-circle celebration of one of the most distinctive musical partnerships of the 21st century.
