Pop culture just scored a big one!
Acclaimed actor Ryan Gosling is gearing up to host Saturday Night Live (SNL) on March 7, marking his fourth turn behind the iconic SNL desk.
Gosling isn’t just dipping a toe back into sketch comedy—he’s diving in with full force. After memorable appearances in 2015, 2017 and 2024, the Barbie and The Fall Guy star will bring his blend of charm, surprise and whiplash humour to SNL once more.
But here’s the twist that has the internet buzzing: Gorillaz—the virtual band helmed by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett—will serve as musical guest on the same night. That’s right, this will be the first time Gorillaz ever take the SNL stage, fusing anime-punk visuals with barbed pop whimsy in a way only they can.
This pairing is electric not just because of the individual star power, but for what it signals—a mash-up of cinematic gravitas and indie-leaning alternative music that freshens the SNL formula. Call it late night meets late-90s garage resurrection.
Fans have been tracking SNL Season 51’s lineup as the show churns through a stacked roster of hosts and music acts. Gosling’s return lands just after rising stars and established talents have graced the Studio 8H stage—and with Gorillaz joining, the episode looks to be one of the most talked-about of the season.
Whether Ryan Gosling kills it in a sketch, or flashes a smile to a studio crowd, Gosling’s SNL return is shaping up to be appointment TV. Don’t miss it when SNL airs live on March 7.
