Born in 1997, María Victoria Ramírez de Arellano Cardona was a tattoo artist and soccer player before ever picking up the mic. She started uploading tracks online and stoking buzz ahead of her slinky Trap and Reggaetón-packed 2022 debut EP, ‘TRAP KITTY’. While tracks such as ‘Riri’ and ‘Lisa’ gained early traction, it was her monster crossover with Colombia’s Feid on “Classy 101” that spotlighted her swaggering bars and elite seduction skills to the world, heralding her impending reign and placing her on Apple Music’s all-genre chart in over 30 countries. With 2023 proving to be her biggest year yet, Miko made her Apple Music Global Daily Top 100 debut with her Karol G collaboration ‘DISPO’, and with her Bad Bunny collaboration ‘FINA’, she reached the top five of Apple Music’s Global chart for the first time ever. All told, Miko’s streams on Apple Music worldwide have soared over 1,250%, while her streams on popular Apple Music playlists like Today’s Hits, ‘¡Dale Play!’, ‘Pure Fuego’, and ‘La Fórmula’ have soared nearly 1,600%.
In her exclusive Up Next short film out today, Miko takes fans around her hometown of Añasco, Puerto Rico and gives a rare glimpse into her life at home on the island, where she finds her zen amongst her art, friends and family. “I like more and more the woman that I’m becoming and that I’ve found in me”, she tells Apple Music. “I want to keep looking for that fulfillment and keep learning from myself and my surroundings.”
