Dabbing in the dessert, Post Malone (born Austin Post) gives a refined performance in all-white attire, gold-teeth and his famed “Iverson” braids. Location wise, this dream-like video reminds me of Dom Kennedy’s “1997.” With music and visuals that are simple and to-the-point, the Syracuse, New York-born singer and recording artist now signed to Republic Records has a long way to go but he’s off to a good start. Kei, you were right. *Earlier in the year, Kei emailed me about Post Malone. Now, he’s an artist with mainstream success.
True to his ‘hood and bad boy antics, Ty Dolla $ign strums his guitar strings with the one and only legendary Babyface. In the brand new video for “Solid,” the Los Angeles-native crooner sings about how much he’s loved by women all over the country, how much money he has and how much weed he has in his possession. It’s great to see Babyface in a newcomer’s video. Usually, the Grammy Award-winning behind-the-scenes when he works with established or new artists. It’s also a treat to hear more of Dolla $ign’s great vocals.
After rolling in the deep for the past four years and giving birth to an adorable son, Adele is finally back. With her first single off of her upcoming third album, 25, she brings you “Hello,” and of course, in typical Adele fashion, she makes us feel her love with every note. As we all know with age comes maturity, and lessons learned. A tearjerking, relatable, blue-eyed soulful track, Adele sings about a love lost, her reconciliation with the past, a story we could all tell.
Tinashe was 2 On, and now has blessed you with her new single, “Player” featuring Chris Brown, off of her sophomore album Joyride. A track letting all of you men know that you’ve finally met your match and Tinashe is playing no games. Really, I’d like to think her and Chris Brown make the perfect match for this track.
Since 2011, Dev Hynes, hailing from Ilford, London, now residing in New York, began Blood Orange. “Sandra’s Smile,” his latest track bleeding through your speakers. A smooth single, with heartfelt content. Bringing light to important current events and person’s as titled, Sandra Bland and he mention’s “Sybrina’s quote,” with reference to Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the late Trayvon Martin. A definite must listen.
