Louisiana-born Senegalese singer Sidibe shares new song ‘Breathwork’: Listen

From being one of the last artists to get a co-sign from the late great Prince to working with some of the industry’s most prominent producers, Sidibe is on the road to greatness. Back with a new song aptly-titled ‘Breathwork’, the Louisiana-born singer-songwriter sings about being real, allowing herself to feel everything, and wanting to relate with her partner. Focusing on inhaling and exhaling as a way to manoeuvre through anxiety and tough times, the four-minute experience can double as sonic healing if you allow it. It is the first song, in a long time, to make me feel relaxed amid a busy life. One that I didn’t mind playing over and over again, just to capture that feeling once more. If you are a fan of the Janet Jacksons, Aaliyahs and Sades of the world, there is a good chance you will appreciate the genius that is Sidibe.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of talking with the singer with Senegalese roots on Instagram Live. She talked about how pleasant and beautiful it is, and made sure to not romanticise the West African country. Also, she detailed her work relationship with collaborator/co-writer and producer Nico Stadi, who famously worked with Justin Bieber, Kylie Minogue and more. In your free time, check out our conversation to hear talk about growing up with a mother who is a marine biologist, singing in the forest, and Saturn returns via this link.
