Brandon Garrett’s legal team accuses the rapper of giving vague responses as the case moves forward.
Nicki Minaj’s legal battle with her former manager Brandon Garrett has taken another turn. According to HotNewHipHop, Garrett’s team now alleges that the Queens rapper has engaged in discovery abuse in their ongoing assault case.
Garrett sued her last January, claiming she struck him during her ‘Pink Friday 2’ tour after a dispute involving a prescription pickup. In the complaint, he alleges Minaj became furious after learning someone else had retrieved the prescription, then threatened him before allegedly hitting him in the face. Garrett claims the impact caused his neck to snap back and his hat to fall off. He also alleges that he later hid in a bathroom for hours and was eventually left behind in Detroit.
Now, Garrett’s attorneys claim Minaj’s responses to written questions were vague and evasive. They are reportedly asking the court to order her to pay nearly $4,000 in legal fees tied to the motion.
Minaj’s former attorney, Judd Burstein, previously denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit “false and frivolous” and expressing confidence it would be resolved in her favour. Her longtime lawyer severed ties with her as a client in November 2025.
