Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

You are, sonically, equivalent to which North American pop singer? Which artists or everyday things inspire you most?

Speaking from a personal point of view, I feel that I’m inspired by different things in life such as experiences that I’ve been through, opinions about the world and life in general. My uplifting energy and colourful spirit are reminiscent of influential artists similar to the likes of Kesha, Katy Perry and Rihanna, while my unique vocal performances are stark and beautiful, embodying the catchy appeal of Pop and the immediacy of Rock.

You’ve released several projects. Which project do you think best describes your personal style or your truest self?

I’ve always considered myself to be a versatile artist and an overall dynamic performer, which I suppose is reflected directly in the music I record. I worked with different people and the results reveal different sides of me. The thing is, I love collaborating with other professionals in the music scene. I believe t ere’s always something new to learn and I find it helps to boost one’s opportunities in this industry. Personally speaking, I think there’s always been an evident pop streak in all of my single releases to date, regardless of which genre I happened to be exploring at the time. Having dabbled in mainstream rock, acoustic pop, club music, power ballads and even dipped my toes in leftfield pop, my new single “Sick Day” (produced by Malta-based Fanatic Studios in collaboration with songwriters Barbara Rose Moseley, Brad Bartolo Frendo and Calvin Bartolo Frendo) is quite possibly my strongest statement whilst going in a different direction. There’s a bigger dose of mainstream pop here but I feel the song reflects this new exciting chapter of my musical journey and my true self. I’ll be venturing deeper into more upbeat pop music which I believe allows me to express my feelings and reach the audience in a more direct way.

What is it like for a young woman growing up in Malta? Are you well received in Malta? Do you plan on coming to the states to further your career?

We are very excited that Sick day has entered the Music Week commercial pop club charts in the UK peaking at nr24 in the top 40.

As a native of Malta and an emerging performer, I have earned various accolades over the years for my talent and I have performed at prominent local venues. I have also been gradually taking shape as an artist managing to show my vocal capabilities through my participation in a variety of local and national music contests, events and competitions where I managed to achieve positive results. Apart from this, I have been working extensively on my repertoire of songs including some of my pre-released tracks. However being in a limited place, I felt that it was now time to take my music career to the next level and advance more as a professional artist in the industry.

What do you want from all of this? What’s next for you? Where do you see yourself in the next 3-5 years?

The main plan is to work on an EP at the moment, possibly including extended club versions but keeping that Pop factor intact throughout. You will definitely be hearing more from me, as there are more releases lined up. I have a lot to offer, and I’m trying to find the best possible ways to present my music and my talent to a wider audience. Naturally I am ambitious, and very excited to perform as much as possible to reach as many people as possible. There are obviously more recordings and releases ahead but maintaining a live presence is equally important. Over and above this, my main priority at the moment is to give this opportunity my undivided attention in the hope that in due time I can venture abroad and pursue my dream of becoming an established artist.
