Gangsta Boo, from Memphis Hip-Hop group Three 6 Mafia, has passed away

Within the last few days, the world has mourned several legendary people, including pioneering journalist Barbara Walters, Anita Pointer from the Pointer Sisters and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. Real name—Lola Chantrella Mitchell—known to the world as “Gangsta Boo”, is the latest popular person to pass away. According to the New York Times, she was “one of the first female rappers to build off the gangster rap image and sound that took off in the 1990s.” On Sunday, she was found dead in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. According to TMZ, a source close to the late rapper was drug related, but the cause of death is still pending. Her fellow Three 6 Mafia member, DJ Paul, has also posted an image of Gangsta Boo on his Instagram profile, confirming the star’s death.
