Drake Bell, the former Nickelodeon star best known for his role on ‘Drake & Josh’, has officially filed for divorce from his wife, Janet Bell (neé Janet Von Schmeling). According to reports, the actor and musician submitted the legal documents this week, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2018, have largely kept their relationship out of the public eye. Unlike many Hollywood unions, their marriage was relatively low-profile, with limited appearances together on social media or at red carpet events. Despite the privacy, news of the divorce comes as a surprise to fans who believed the pair were still quietly enjoying married life.
Bell, 39, has experienced a tumultuous career over the past decade, marked by legal troubles and professional setbacks. His most recent return to the spotlight was through music and sporadic acting projects, as well as reconnecting with fans who grew up watching him on television. For many, Bell’s personal life has been under just as much scrutiny as his career, particularly after his 2021 guilty plea in a case involving endangerment of a minor, for which he served probation.
Janet Bell has remained away from the limelight, rarely speaking publicly about her husband or their relationship. The divorce filing reportedly requests that issues such as spousal support and division of assets be addressed by the court, though no further details have been disclosed at this stage.
Whilst neither Drake nor Janet has released a public statement regarding the split, speculation about the reasons behind their separation continues to circulate online. Fans have taken to social media to express shock and sadness over the news, with many recalling Bell’s once-promising career and voicing hopes that both parties find peace in this next chapter of their lives.
