The 21st annual BET Awards show was held on Sunday (June 27), at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, where a vaccinated live audience attended since the pandemic began.

Award-winning actress Taraji Henson hosted the show and the theme for this year’s edition was ‘Year of the Black Woman’. The award show recognizes outstanding Black talents in music, sports, film, and more. Hip-Hop icon Queen Latifah received the Lifetime Achievement BET Award to celebrate her illustrious career. BET also paid tribute to late Rap legend DMX, who passed away in April at the age of 50.
