Four hours after its release, we had the honour of watching DJ_Dave’s live-coded performance. The video was self-shot in Los Angeles at an electronics recycling facility called Homeboy Electronics Recycling, which is part of the world’s largest reentry organisation for formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated people. Why did she select this location?

The selector said, “Since we’re constantly bombarded with the sociological and environmental fallout of big tech & AI ventures, I wanted to shine a light on the positive work that Homeboy Recycling is doing with electronic recycling, reuse, and secure data destruction.”

DJ_Dave has rolled ‘Hardcore Software’ out across three singles this year: ‘one4u’, ‘Fail-safe’, which she wrote in ten minutes, and July’s ‘Next to U’, whose power-fifth lead melody came out of a mistyped comma in Strudel, her live coding environment.

Beatport named her to its Next Class of 2026, Grimes booked her for a Met Gala afterparty, and Frank Ocean selected her for Homer Radio. She spent August on festival stages including Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party, and plays Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival on September 6.

‘The Hardcore Software Tour’, her first as a headliner, opens at the El Rey in Los Angeles on October 1, and nine dates supporting horsegiirL on the Nature Is Healing Tour carry her through North America and Europe from late October into December.

Without further ado, check out ‘Await’. It is from her forthcoming debut album ‘Hardcore Software’. It will be released on October 2 through Mad Decent.
