Watch South Korean boy band BTS’ emotional Netflix documentary trailer
From military service to global superstardom reborn, the film captures the group’s reunion, creative process, and the emotional journey behind their next chapter.

BTS are officially stepping back into the global spotlight—and this time, they’re bringing fans closer than ever. Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for ‘BTS: The Return’, a deeply personal documentary that captures the group’s long-awaited reunion and creative rebirth following their hiatus.
The film arrives at a pivotal moment in the group’s career. After completing South Korea’s mandatory military service and spending years pursuing solo ventures, RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook reunite to create their fifth studio album, ‘Arirang‘. The documentary offers unprecedented access to that process, documenting studio sessions, emotional conversations and the pressure of returning as the world’s biggest band.
Set primarily in Los Angeles, ‘BTS: The Return’ follows the septet as they rediscover their chemistry and redefine their identity in a new era. The trailer leans into vulnerability. It teases candid reflections from the members, including moments of doubt, growth and quiet determination. Early previews highlight leader RM opening up about insecurities, setting the tone for a film that prioritises honesty over spectacle.
Importantly, the documentary isn’t just about music—it’s about legacy. BTS are navigating the weight of expectation whilst trying to evolve creatively. The film explores how the group balances global fame with personal transformation, all whilst preparing to re-enter a fast-moving industry that has shifted during their absence.
Netflix is strategically rolling out the documentary alongside a major comeback moment. The group’s album ‘Arirang’ drops on March 20, followed by a global livestream concert, ‘BTS The Comeback Live | Arirang’, on March 21. The documentary then premieres on March 27, effectively extending the comeback into a multi-format global event.
For fans—known as ARMY—’BTS: The Return’ promises more than behind-the-scenes footage. It’s a front-row seat to one of pop culture’s most significant comebacks. And if the trailer is any indication, this isn’t just a reunion—it’s a reinvention.
