Explore dark ambience with Jason Vitelli’s No Wave Gaze
Jason Vitelli’s fifth album and second purely instrumental release, ‘2. No Wave Gaze’ is a darkly ambient exploration that functions as a unique collaboration across generations, merging the artist’s formative creative exploits with his current technical expertise. Described by Vitelli as an ‘evolution of his mind’s eye’, the 14-track project pays homage to the late ’70s NYC ‘No Wave’ movement, which rejected commercialism in favour of raw, experimental expression, while also drawing significant inspiration from the Expressionist art movement.

A multi-instrumentalist proficient in alto sax, soprano clarinet, piano, guitar, and voice, Vitelli is a regular fixture in NYC listening rooms and the Catskills region. His previous work, including the critically acclaimed ‘Head Above Tide’, has been hailed as a ‘musical phenomenon’, while his first instrumental release, ‘1. Ambient Corridors was described as a ‘subtle masterpiece’. With ‘2. No Wave Gaze’, Vitelli successfully transitions from a whisper to a ‘captivating soliloquy’, further expanding the boundaries of his signature sound.
