Watch ‘Adiós Buenos Aires’, a feature film centred around the 2001 crisis and how it affected one man’s plans to leave for good
Expect the unexpected, always.
Set in November 2001, months after the FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina, Julio Färber, a man who planned to leave his country for a new life in Germany, sold everything he owned to make his dream a reality. In a stream of unfortunate events, the main character faces a nasty car accident on a bridge caused by a local female taxi driver and resistance from his teenage daughter. In my opinion, what pulled me in about the film was the five-piece working-class Tango band’s tenacity to perform their music, only to get three empanadas each per gig. Eventually, the government aired a public service announcement on Hoy TV, declaring the cease of its citizen’s wages—allowing them to withdraw up to a maximum of 250 pesos a month (approximately $14.89 in today’s economy) or $1,000 a month (roughly about $59.58). It led to many violent protests, leaving the police overwhelmed, with many wounded and one person dead in Rosario due to the use of tear gas and bullets. During what Argentines call “the “Corralito” (little stall)”, people were hungry and desperate.
Today, in North America, one could consider themselves lucky to feed a family of three with $250 a week. Could you imagine what life would be like to go to the bank and hear you can only withdraw approximately $15 of your hard-earned money? You would lose it, too.
The feature film is out now, playing in select theatres. Watch the official German Kral-directed trailer below. It is in English subtitles.

Listen to the incredible movie soundtrack, too.

Ice Spice tells Apple Music about ‘Gimmie a Light’, explains what fans can expect from her forthcoming album, and reflects on Coachella
[media-credit name=”Instagram” link=”https://www.instagram.com/p/C6w6qYzOuZo/?img_index=1″ width=819 align=”center”]
[/media-credit]Ice Spice joins Zane Lowe for New Music Daily on Apple Music 1 for the release of her new single, ‘Gimmie a Light’ out now. Ice Spice also gives hints on her album, ‘Y2K’ telling Zane, “This will be the last couple times I can say I don’t have an album out yet.” She also teases what fans can expect from the upcoming project, and talks her recent Coachella performances.
Ice Spice on continuing to work with her producer Riot and the success and confidence they’ve achieved together
It does feel really different in the best way possible. I’m so grateful to have this comfort and bond that we have. You know what I mean? Because recording was a challenge in the beginning, and now, I’m just so much more comfortable and I’m just willing to say anything that comes to mind without feeling any type of way. You know what I mean? Even when it came to ‘Think You the’, I just said it and I didn’t have to think twice. If it was two years ago, I probably would’ve been like, “No, no.” I probably would’ve never even let it come out my mouth.

Ice Spice on her new single ‘Gimmie a Light’
I was really nervous because we really wanted to have a very authentic ‘Y2K’ sample in there, and Sean Paul, he’s legendary. And that song alone, his ‘Gimme the Light’, is so iconic that I was so nervous to sample it, because I’m like, “This isn’t going to get cleared, so what’s the point?” But thankfully, we got it cleared. Shouts to Sean Paul. He’s so real.
Ice Spice on her forthcoming album, ‘Y2K’ and how she approached the concept as somebody who wasn’t born into that era
Thankfully, I had my mom, so growing up I’d see her really embody the ‘Y2K’ aesthetic in its truest form. [To me, the aesthetic is…] It’s duck nails. It’s a tramp stamp. It’s brown lip liner no matter where you go. So, thankfully I had her [my mom] as my inspo growing up. And of course just like the internet, you feel me? Just like anyone else.
The crazy thing is it wasn’t just a definitive moment, it was just this ongoing process of, “What should we name the album?” And then I have a book full of pages of album names and different ideas, and I just really find the beauty and simplicity and I was just like, “You know what? I want it to be short. I don’t want it to be this super long phrase.” It was going to go either way. It was going to be super long phrase or one word. There was no in between for me.
Actually a lot of the time, well, either one of us [Ice and Riot] will have an idea, or just anybody else on the team will have an idea and we’ll add it and sit on it for a couple days and then be like, “Now, let’s bring it back to where it was at.”
Ice Spice on her recent Coachella moment
Coachella was so fun. Definitely my most fun time on stage ever in my career up until this point. And I was just so amazed because I was looking up acts that have done the same slot and stage just because, you know, you want to prep, and I’m like, “What do I expect?” whatever, and I did not expect that. I swear I didn’t know that that stage goes that far back. I really did not expect that. They showed so much love. I was overwhelmed by the love, for real.

As a way to get ahead of a potential disaster, the Miami duo released the album some hours later. August Alsina releases new single ‘NOLA’ from upcoming album with 27 tracks: Listen
Prepping loyal fans for his return with a seemingly “woke” album (See: emerge•and•see), August Alsina shares ‘NOLA’, a song that seems to address his critics and haters. Often, fans want the “old (insert name)”, which JAY Z famously replied on the Swizz Beatz-produced ‘On to the Next One’ ‘Niggas want my old shit, buy my old albums’. As he croons to convey the world doesn’t need the old Alsina, he warns with a list of reasons. His twenty-seven track album ‘The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy’ is set to come out on June 26. Check out the single below. It’s good to see him back at it. He’s been through a lot.
