As usual, I enjoyed TiaCorine and the fast-paced cunty lyrics about the Vogue Femme, the meat-tucking queens and the cute Bow Wow and Ciara ‘Like You’ reference.
Less than a week ago, TiaCorine, one of my favourite new artists (on the planet), released the official music video for her new tantalising jam called ‘Ate’ featuring Jus10 and Byrell the Great. The baddie with the cocaine white bob kicks off the Fred Focus-directed visual by getting a light for her cigarette on a tufted sofa with another attractive woman by her side. What is the record about? The Winston-Salem star is taking someone for all of their worldly possessions, unapologetically. Watch the video below to see who vogues the best and count how many looks she serves.

A week ago, on his Instagram, with more than three million followers, Runtown announced that his next release, ‘End a Man’, would arrive soon.
Three weeks ago, Nigeria’s legendary musical superstar Runtown unveiled the official music video for his hypnotic track ‘Flow’, which epitomises his signature sound. In the engaging clip featuring stunning visuals that blend modern aesthetics with cultural elements, the ‘Mad Over You’ creator shares what appears to be a personal jewellery collection of crosses, some rings, a classic Benz truck, and the highlighting of Japanese fashion designer Jun Takahashi’s book—which isn’t a surprise as Runtown studied Fashion Management in New York City, has been in high fashion circles and has a unique fashion choice and style. For the remainder of the picture, the Afro-Fusion/Alté pioneer delights in smoking, enjoying the company of his friends, and singing about the various worldly things that try to command his attention.

Does Breez Kennedy get any answers to his questions?
Today, the talented American singer-songwriter Breez Kennedy unveiled the official performance visual for his introspective track, ‘Love Language’. Hailing from St Petersburg, Kennedy delivers a poignant narrative, skillfully addressing complex relationship dynamics through heartfelt lyricism and soulful vocal delivery. In ‘Love Language’, the artist poignantly questions his romantic partner, seeking to understand the motivations behind her actions and emotional distance. Through his evocative storytelling, Kennedy navigates themes of vulnerability and trust, demonstrating an acute awareness of the subtleties inherent in human connection. He tactfully inquires whether she requires space, even speculating on the possibility of another individual capturing her affections.
Rather than succumbing to despair or resentment, Kennedy exhibits remarkable emotional maturity. He consciously chooses optimism, emphasising his commitment to preserving his mental well-being and resisting the allure of a darker psychological state. This deliberate positivity imbues the track with a hopeful resonance that is both refreshing and relatable. The performance visual further amplifies the emotional depth of the song, providing a clean and intimate aesthetic that allows viewers to immerse themselves in Kennedy’s expressive delivery. The stripped-down production underscores the sincerity of his message, allowing the raw emotion in his voice to take centre stage.

Camille Yembe is a new artist in her mid-twenties born to a Belgian mother and a Congolese father, according to a Sofar Sounds article.
Freeze-framing an aggressively windy day, the new French-speaking singer Camille Yembe seems to place the voices in her head on an undeserving pedestal… making her astonishingly relatable and vulnerable in her debut solo track ‘Plastique’.
“She’s striking!”, I thought. “How could she not see what I see?”
The truth is, sometimes, we can’t see what others see. If you don’t speak French and cannot understand what the song is about, I’ve got you covered. You can read the French and English lyrics in this article.
Yembe has been featured on other recording artists’ songs as a feature (See ‘4 Saisons’ by GAN) officiating her plunge into the music business in 2015. However, the Brussels-born singer-songwriter appears to have one solo release, ‘Plastique’, seemingly taking a chance to become an artist in her own right.

Today, Canada-based indie rapper CHUNG released a new masterfully produced five-track EP ‘Perdu in Peru’. Overall, the project’s heavily sampled production effortlessly weaves through the chilled artist’s luminous lyrical kung fu, mirroring scenes from Kill Bill. With that in full view, I think CHUNG’s style could easily blend handsomely with any of the Griselda Records emcees and complement Keisha Plum’s sharp-tongued spoken word or poetry. But ‘Babe Ruth’ stood out to me because of its timely yet relatable lyrics that mention the Brazilian butt lift craze (“fake asses”) and Nip/Tucks (“facelifts”). It has been over five years since we first covered the Montreal spitter. She released a thirteen-track album called ‘Chung Sui II’ and a few singles in 2023, produced by Cotola. Now, she’s back with a minty breath of fresh air. Listen to the project below, and let us know what you think, produced by Perotheproducer entirely.

Song of the Day: ‘End of Daze’ by Spillage Village

Comprised of who I tend to refer to as the modern-day Soulquarians, EARTHGANG, JID, 6LACK, Mereba, Jurdan Bryant, Hollywood JB and Benji, Spillage Village is the latest supergroup to walk the face of the Earth. Opening with and addressing the racial injustices happening in America on a television screen with pictures of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd and the deaths of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, the artists took the time to share what’s on their minds in the midst of a global pandemic and civil rights uprising. Each line is masterfully-performed, although sombre like the times. Watch the video for the well-produced track, which evokes the spirit of the legendary Outkast from the early 00s, below.
