Iranian singer Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo, known as Amir Tataloo, has reportedly been sentenced to death for blasphemy after an appeal overturned his earlier five-year prison term. The thirty-seven-year-old artist, recognised for his blend of Rap, Pop, and R&B, was convicted of insulting Prophet Mohammed. However, Iran’s judiciary has denied issuing a final verdict, stating that Tataloo has recently become eligible for leniency under legal provisions. Tataloo, who had been living in Istanbul since 2018, was extradited to Iran in December 2023 and has been detained since. His case has attracted international attention, with many closely monitoring further legal developments.
