London star Angel teams up with Davido and French Montana for ‘Blessings (Remix)’: Watch
British singer-songwriter Angel has followed up his already successful single ‘Blessings’ with the remix, this time looping in artists Davido and French Montana for a multi-cultural guaranteed hit. This song is warm weather and party-ready, for sure. Davido kicks it off with his usual swag, giving the song the Naija swag that he adds so effortlessly. Angel follows, reminding us why we loved the original. French Montana finishes us off with his Bronx swag that always seems to flow effortlessly with Afrobeats/Reggae-style tracks.
The women in the video are Black and beautiful, something that I’m sure was intentional, and greatly appreciated. We’re ready for the summer with this one!

Nashville rapper KING the MC steps out of the shadows and shines his light with ‘Napoleon Hill’: Listen
Finding his lights, stepping outside of the shadows is Nashville, Tennessee based rapper KING the MC. In his latest visual for ‘Napoleon Hill’, the rapper shares his story of finding himself and falling into his purpose. He equips himself with many spiritual themes throughout the song and his message alludes to a realization and actualization of his calling. These realizations are attributed to Napoleon Hill, whose quotes are laced throughout the visual. Each scene shot was in a room that is a bit dark, which symbolically makes sense, as his lyrics shine light through that darkness. This is very important music, because his purpose is to enlighten and inspire, which is something that is needed at all times.

Lo-fi Pop star Declan McKenna shares ‘The Key to Life on Earth’ visual
At the age of twenty-one, Declan McKenna knows how to make big songs with the anthemic spirit most music fans enjoy. Rolling off of the steam from his song ‘Brazil’ about how FIFA handled the 2012 World Cup, we believe he’s here to stay. Four days ago, Declan McKenna released the visual for ‘The Key to Life on Earth’ from his forthcoming album ‘Zeros’, set to release August 21. Watch it below.

Lil Romo bares it all in emotional single ‘When I Was Down’: Watch
Newcomer Lil Romo surprised me with his track ‘When I Was Down’. Having just been introduced to his music, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The opening piano melody that transitions into a fire trap beat brought me in immediately. Although the beat intensifies the track, it’s still gentle enough to align with the reflective message of the song. Lil Romo recounts his days struggling in the streets and striving for success. This type of song is pretty much a requirement for a rapper–a recollection of the journey–and this is one that is really, just beautiful. The video shows Lil Romo around and outside in the hood, and contrasted with the soft melody that backs the track gives the track so much depth and so much more meaning. An excellent effort from Lil Romo, who clearly has no intention of being ‘down’ again.

Ireland-based artist Bazigos shares visual for ‘Prison Break’: Watch
We here at GRUNGECAKE are pretty honored to not only highlight musicians here in the States, but we always love to have our ears to the international sounds as well. For those who don’t know, there’s a growing Hip-Hop scene in Dublin, Ireland that dates back to the 1980s and as mentioned, the scene is getting bigger. With his latest release from his ‘Purple Path’ project, Bazigos shares some visuals for his track ‘Prison Break’. With his animated and off-set delivery, Bazigos tells a story about being a prisoner in his own mind and using his creativity to break free. Heavily inspired by the sounds of Trip-Hop and Rock, Bazigos displays a nice balance of energy and experimental sounds in this track. Be sure to check out his ‘The Purple Path’ project.

Atlanta’s Lil Keed releases video for single ‘No Dealings’: Watch
Atlanta rapper and Young Thug signee Lil Keed has released his visuals for fire track ‘No Dealings’. The song is fire, and similar to Young Thug, we hear Lil Keed reach an astronomically high pitch in the sing-song style that we’ve grown accustomed to from the artists. He effortlessly walks on the YoungBoyBrown beat and lets us know that he intends to take care of the people closest to him. The images in the video are performances mixed with some trippy visuals of Keed in a staircase. Lil Keed and his brother, Lil Gotit are both on their way to blowing up. We can’t wait to see it.

Norway producer Gundelach’s visual for ‘Cynical Mind’ imitates current human life: Watch
Gundelach, one of my Norway’s buzzing musical artists, released a powerful visual for a record called ‘Cynical Mind’ about a month ago. It is unclear how long ago the production for the video happened, but there are a lot of us having these types of dreams; wishing we were in public places with a lover. It is remarkable when art imitates life in this way, perhaps unknowingly. If you haven’t been keeping up with the coronavirus news, here’s one for you. Gundelach’s conception for his visual may not be far-fetched for everyone in these times because Jacksonville, Florida just reopened its beaches yesterday. As the reports say, hundreds of people flocked to the local beaches for “essential activities” in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. There are “some restrictions”.
Watch the visual for the song featuring AURORA below. If you’re open and grown enough to handle same-sex intimacy, you’re going to enjoy it as much as I do.

Ghanaian singer MOH experiences heartbreak in ‘Belinda’ debut featuring Mr Eazi: Watch
‘Belinda’ must be the woman of his dreams, because MOH can’t keep it together when she’s around. As his wheels spin within moments of seeing her, he falls deeper and deeper in love with her—demonstrating that his heart is only for her until he gets a reality check. It is a smooth comedic debut record for MOH featuring the acclaimed Mr Eazi produced by Lexyz. Nothing is funnier than the dance moves he does, as she fans herself. Watch the animated visual below. I think, in this case, it was the best way to show what he felt in this scenario.
