Two days ago, Apple Music announced an exclusive new Apple Music DJ Mix courtesy of DJ Green Lantern and DJ Snoopadelic (also known as Snoop Dogg), scheduled for release on Friday, July 25.

“The world is in need of good vibrations. The Mothership Connection is making an Emergency Landing. Me and Green Lantern… taking you from P Funk to G Funk and everything in between, Death Row style!”, Snoop Dogg tells Apple Music.

“The Mothership project is all about raising the vibration, taking you higher musically!”, says DJ Green Lantern. “Imagine a cool-ass house party in outer space… that’s us!”

On the DJ mix highlights, DJ Green Lantern reveals listeners can expect: “tracks like October London ‘Make Me Wanna’ mixed with The O’Jays ‘Darlin’ Darlin’ Baby’, which Snoop makes a cameo on… We celebrate Roy Ayers with a new rework of ‘Everybody Loves the Sunshine’ featuring Jane Handcock on guest vocals… Maze’s ‘We Are One’ was chosen for its universal message of unity and togetherness. That’s what the Mothership is all about, Baby!”

DJ Green Lantern’s and DJ Snoopadelic’s ‘Live From the Mothership II: Emergency Landing’ is the long-awaited sequel to the duo’s original 2018 mixtape classic, which became available to stream exclusively on Apple Music in December of 2024. Mothership II is the perfect Summer soundtrack—a blend of classic Soul, Funk, and R&B with special cameos from Snoop Dogg himself.

Tune in and listen to DJ Green Lantern & DJ Snoopadelic’s ‘Live From the Mothership II: Emergency Landing’ DJ Mix live for free on Apple Music 1 and Apple Music Hits this Friday, July 25 at 12 PM PT/3 PM EST.

    He’s back from a four-year hiatus.

In a room (perhaps) made to resemble the Union Street station in Brooklyn, New York, GRAMMY-nominated artist Morray performs the new single, ‘Mud Baby’.

    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1684kS4bTE&h=315]

On the track, the Fayetteville legend sings about going through rough times, being a rockstar to his kids, and his reality. On the rest of the tape, the artist, boasting over 200 million views on YouTube, covers backstabbers in his busy life on ‘Take Me Serious’ and going hard without trying on ‘FTA (Failure to Appear)’. Check out the performance video below to watch the stadium-booked star deliver his deep lyrics in front of a dark room juxtaposing flickering lights.

This week, Milwaukee rapper-songwriter Chicken P released his exciting new body of music called ‘Lit 4 Ever’. From the opening track (‘YN’) until its end (‘Buss One 101, Pt 2’), the star sheds light on personal relationships with a young woman with good credit who wants to buy a car for him (she has good credit) and more women (‘5 of Em’). Some standout moments include my top pick ‘My YN’ (“I’m just like Melly/I’ll kill my brother”), ‘Sippin’ Rent’, where he raps (“You niggas think they bosses/But they don’t even own shit” and ‘Like I’m Mitch’ (“I don’t want no steak, bitch/Make me a sandwich”) for the ten-track project. Check out the Midwest champion’s raw high-tempo effort—destined for hitting the local club or driving around the city with a fresh haircut and a new outfit below. Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, who has captured the hearts of many in his home country and beyond, released a six-track extended play dubbed ‘The Championship’ on May 24. For the project with the fire as a focus of its cover art, the Tema-native awarded superstar who likens himself to America’s successful rapper and billionaire JAY Z covers themes of understanding his worth and increasing his price (‘Confetti’), aspirations of selling out London’s O2 Arena (‘Brag’), and last but not least, devotion on the MOG Beatz production for this release in English and his native tongue, Twi. Listen to the project with personal stories you wouldn’t hear elsewhere featuring fellow artists like Joey B, Xlimkid, and Beeztrap KOTM.

  • Stream Victoria, British Columbia-based producer Laizlo’s latest tape filled with Lo-Fi Hip-Hop jams

It’s not every day that you get to hear these groups of lyricists in one compound. I think the producer didn’t list all of the artists on his tracklisting—for a reason like being flagged on a streaming service for copyright infringement. Anyway, if you love Lo-Fi Hip-Hop songs as much as I do, or unlikely remakes of songs by famous people, Laizlo’s short mix might make your day. There are several artists on the mix, but for sake’s name—everyone from J Cole, A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, Jay Electronica, MF DOOM and more are on the tape. Check out the below.

  • Review: Nemo Achida’s “Side A” EP

Side A is a recently released 7-track EP by the Lexington, Kentucky born rapper Nemo Achida. Each track tells its own different story, which is what makes this EP unique. Not only is the lyrical content easy to understand and follow, but his delivery is on point as well. Nemo Achida is definitely a rapper to not take lightly.

    Side A by Nemo Achida

    1. Levon’s Unofficial Intro: The first thing that came to mind while listening to Levon’s Unofficial Intro is ‘what in the world is going on?’ Apparently, Nemo is taking advantage of Levon. The funniest part about this skit is the ending where it reveals that the whole monologue is an interrupted studio session. “I booked this session from nine to twooo…”

    Side A by Nemo Achida

    2. Mighty Devils: As far as being the opening track to the EP (not including the intro) — Mighty Devils sets the tone for the rest of the tracks. Not only does the track start and finish hard, but it seems to pull influences from The Dipset Era; good lyrical content and his witty approach is a nice added touch.

    Side A by Nemo Achida

    3. Over My Dead Body: “It takes more than one man to build a nation / It takes more than race, so fuckin’ face it / Over my dead body, I’ma feed the people.” Sometimes the best songs do not include screwing bitches and whipping around in “pimped out” cars. The fact that Nemo Achida gives a shout out to geniuses says it all.

    Side A by Nemo Achida

    4. Amazing (Snippet): The title says it all, the track is just that — amazing. This upbeat tempo track is uplifting and full of soul. The phone snippet is hilarious!

    Side A by Nemo Achida

    5. Sweat Featuring Cheri Coke: Sweat is my favorite song on the EP, unlike the other songs — this is the only sensual song that puts you in the mood, if you get my drift. Nemo Achida made a smart move by featuring Cheri Coke, she helps bring out the sensuality even more and we love his singing / crooning.

    Side A by Nemo Achida

    6. Great Breakfast (outro): Aside from the impressive lyrical effort, the beat alone is the first thing that stands out because of the sample. The song in general has that 1970’s meets modern day Summertime vibe.

    Side A by Nemo Achida

    7. ***bonus*** Get Off It feat. DJ Warren Peace: This has to be one of the hardest tracks on the EP. Get Off It has somewhat of a “sinister-spacey” sound, in which he addresses haters and naysayers. He perfectly references A Tribe Called Quest with the “Hey sucka nigga” line on the hook. Get Off It is that ultimate “back the hell up” and “get out of my face” track.
