I threw some ice up on my arm. I let my wrist freeze,
Red diamonds on my brace, now that’s a wrist bleed,
Talk that shit around me with no crew, now that’s risky,
Shots of tequila but she know that I drink whiskey,
Lines like these from You.th’s song ‘in.time’ shows the ability of a true artist that’s able to go beyond normal descriptive words that rhyme. But rather create an experience that brings the listener into his world. Looking at his Instagram, you get a small glimpse at the artist You.th where there is a common theme of portraits surrounded by black frames. These images don’t portray the rapper lifestyle of model chics, exotic island locations with deep captions, or even the rapper selfie of them putting money to their ear. Oppositely so it shows an artist that pays attention to the details and knows how a small touch of one thing can completely change the art. And it’s when you sit down and truly listen to his music and hear the details of his sound that you are instantly transcended into the matrix that is known as ‘in.time’. And you begin to see and believe that You.th is the Neo of this transcended world.
You.th is an artist from Tulsa, Oklahoma who has a growing fanbase. His sound. His voice. Both instantly catches you off guard and is proving to be a true asset for an artist that is looking to shake all comparisons and grow into the artist he is destined to.
The video ‘in.time’ leaves many questions. Who is this artist? Who is the director? Where’s the rapper chain? All of the normal rapper music video props that you are used to seeing in a video have been left out. Or maybe this is just the look that You.th was looking for. A minimalist video that lets the music create the pictures for the listener. A video and more importantly a track that puts the listener in a state of euphoria where words are not needed. Or as You.th would say “Don’t talk. Don’t talk. Let your body language speak when you walk.” ‘in.time’ is a song that makes you think that if there is such a thing as nirvana that this song is playing when you get there.
