What DeJ Loaf’s “Like A Hoe” Reminds Me Of

Gracing XXL’s 2015 Freshmen Class cover, DeJ Loaf is here to stay. Sharing the campaign with the guys, she is also one of two representing for the ladies. “Like A Hoe” reminds me of a sequel to the same vibes of “Try Me.” On the track, she is anti-sugar coating realness. Verses on this track are aggressive, yet melodic to the framework of compositions previously recorded.

“Success be like a block away, get the f**k up out my way / How you feel, closer to my dreams like Goapele / I’m trynna make a mill ni**a, how you trynna operate?”

If you haven’t done so already, pay attention to the music from this Detroit native. There is consistency in growth, and longevity to creating. DeJ Loaf stays true to her style, and moves systems in beauty and Hip-Hop culture. With an active social presence expanding, you’ll see more of this young woman’s journey. Congrats on the XXL Freshmen cover. Well deserved.
