Coming off of Slime Season, visuals for “Power” blend psychedelic graphics to casual beats. Metaphorically, the video opens with two guys breaking into a house only to find hidden treasure. Though the findings are not revealed, “power” lies within the hands of both the ally and enemy. Presented with dual sides, the solo shot is gothic in appearance. Directed by Be EL Be, the overall shot is executed in DIY-fashion. Familiar with the London On Da Track sound, production stays uniform.
Back to the interactive scene, gold, red, and purple are accent tones. These colors also have symbolic meaning, such as desire, wisdom, and supremacy. It seems as though this record speaks on harsh realities of fame. Remodeling another format in Hip-Hop, Young Thug’s abstract-minded style is a signature.
The video also highlights friendly competition on a basketball court. A sport that can be seen as singular, but collaborative. Additional iconography includes; architecture, jewelry, styrofoam cups, nature, ripped denim, and a Hovertrax board.
Although postponed (with some dates on-time,) the “HY!£UN35” tour will feature new levels of entertainment. Remember his experience on the “RODEO” tour with Travis Scott? The production of that show was innovative, and true to the fan base. One thing you can’t deny is Young Thug’s ownership of individualism.
