Sasha and Theo Spielberg are the brother-sister duo who make up Wardell. Already garnering attention from NME, Vogue, New York Times and NPR, Wardell will release their debut album Love / Idleness on February 10. Play their brand new single “Funny Thing” via this link or the player below.
Wardell describe the song as follows: “Funny Thing” is about everyday oddities, the chunk of the absurd you find in ordinary situations, during the lull in an argument or while boarding a plane to see somebody you love. We wanted the song to sound like the moment when the unexceptional suddenly becomes something more.”
The band spent most of the past summer in the studio recording Love / Idleness, following a string of performances at SXSW 2014. The bulk of the album was written in the pair’s childhood home, giving Love / Idleness just a hint of nostalgia mixed with the differing opinions that come with age and perspective.
