East African Pop star Vanessa Mdee celebrates new label deal; releases ‘That’s for Me’ featuring Distruction Boyz, DJ Tira, and Prince Bulo

The moment is a celebration for her international debut after signing a record deal with Universal Music Africa.

Is it me or are checkered garments on trend? Vanessa Mdee’s elaborate video opens with two women behind her in checkered garb, posing as a posse member should. Then, more join her in a hallway where she is also in it. The moment is a celebration for her international debut after signing a record deal with Universal Music Africa. The East African Pop star joined forces with the Distruction Boyz, DJ Tira, and Prince Bulo for the infectious dance track. With a vocal tone similar to Kelly Rowland’s from Destiny Child, the former law scholar sings about ownership.

In regards to the black and white pattern, T-Pain also wore it in his new video, and so does Vanessa Mdee. Watch the East African singer’s new visual for ‘That’s For Me’ below.
