‘IGOR’: The mushy metamorphosis of Tyler, the Creator, once deemed a ‘shock value’ ‘Horrorcore’ ‘nuisance’

Is it us or does Tyler, the Creator seem to become softer with each album release removed from his debut? It’s the sort of growth that is precedent for a young Black man who tends to rap and croon whenever his heart desires. We’ve been supporting the OFWGKTA-leader from the start, through promotional means and hard case CD purchases. As far as ‘IGOR’ goes, it appears the artist is picking up where Pharrell’s NERD left off, but the content is a little different. It’s specifically about love, love that hasn’t been sung about in this way before. As unusual and as quaint as he needs to be, the flower boy evokes emotions that we hadn’t heard from him in a public space. We all go through heartaches and heartbreaks, so it is comforting to know that the acclaimed successful talent isn’t exempt from being like the rest of us, even though, the general public may think otherwise. Check out the deep-seated twelve track LP below. There are no features on it. Just, Tyler.

Also, if you’re in New York City and can afford to go to Governor’s Ball, you can catch him there on May 31. In Dover, Delaware a month later (June 21), see his set at the Firefly Music Festival. He’s usually a blast live, so we can’t wait to see how he decides to perform these new album cuts.
