Today, Miami’s Twelve’Len is sharing a new video. ‘Thank the Gang’ is his first offering of new music in 2019, following a standout guest appearance on Denzel Curry’s ‘Black Balloons’ in 2018. The new track sees Twelve’Len taking centre stage to show gratitude to the friends and family that have supported him on his journey from humble beginnings growing up in Carol City, Miami. The song’s accompanying visual, directed by Twelve’Len himself and inspired by classic 90’s R&B videos, finds the singer back in his hometown paying homage to the people that stood by him. Twelve’Len also recently directed Denzel’s visual for ‘Ricky’, proving that his artistry isn’t limited to music alone.
In a heartfelt letter to his friends on the meaning of the song, Twelve’Len says,
Never forget, The admiration of how y’all ride for me is endless. Carol City wasn’t designed for our survival yet y’all insured I made it out. Taking time to praise the one’s who often feel overlooked. Bless the people, thank the gang and who supported me.
Twelve’Len grew up in Carol City, Florida, and was closely affiliated with Raider Klan, working alongside SpaceGhostPurrp, Nell, JK The Reaper and Denzel Curry (who remains one of Twelve’Len’s closest collaborators), as well as artists like 6lack. He first emerged onto the scene with his 2016 album Friends, which set him apart sonically from his South Florida peers. Raised on Al Green and Marvin Gaye, Twelve’Len taps into those influences to make music closer to soul than traditional rap, all the while keeping a gritty street influenced quality to his music.
