Thelonious Love, a soulful singer from Austin, Texas, released his music video ‘Though They Try’ featuring Star Amerasu. This track is a single to his debut EP titled, ‘No Other Love Alive’ (N.O.L.A). Something special about this five-minute video is that, it was released during the time of Malcolm X’s birthday. Just by looking at the video, it has the feel that recalls the past presence and influence of the late activist. At the start of the video, Thelonious was channelling his inner Malcolm X with the suit and X’s most memorable glasses. Not only does the video share a message of living better, but it also has somewhat of a spoken word essence. This is definitely not your ordinary “get money” or “look at these girls twerk” video. The amount of substance in the video and Love’s lyrics are captivating.
