What I love about the music community its ability to influence society, and change it for the better. Every day a new artist is speaking out against everything from bullying to homophobia. MTV has used their Look Different campaign to help promote tolerance and shatter stereotypes and labels.
Great, but when is everyone going to get together and rally against the unjust institution of musical genres? When a Rock band like Joywave joins forces with Mick Jenkins and Little Simz, there’s no way to put a label on the outcome. “Bad Dreams” is the haunting musical offspring of his diverse platoon, and it can’t be put in a box. This motivating track can’t be called U.K. Rap. It certainly isn’t Southern Hip-Hop, and at first listen, few people would call it Indie Rock. “Bad Dreams” is simply what happens when a league of talented, tenacious, individual gather to create indescribable sound.
