Snoh Aalegra

Snoh Aalegra – Sometimes (Submission)

About a month ago, Snoh Aalegra released “Sometimes” from her thirteen-track EP, “FEELS.” Without much thought, I thought the beat knocks the way Dilla’s track tend to, in the heat of the moment. Besides the beginning of the record reminded me of Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi” remake by Janet Jackson and Q-Tip, it feels like lying down on a mound of plush pillows. As much as I like rapper collaborations with singers, I feel like Logic is interrupting the vibe (a little). Literally, Aalegra gets cut off and he’s punched in. Now, don’t get me wrong. Logic’s flow is murderous (as he says on the track) here, but I wanted to hear more of the Stockholm-raised singer’s vocals.

Aaeidi – Run (Submission)

When you hear someone say that there isn’t hope for a girl like them, you start to wonder. Just what kind of girl is she? By the looks of it, Aaeidi (pronounced “dee”) is a mysterious power vocal singer-songwriter. She has a nomadic spirit, so she isn’t one to hold down. I mean, the song is called “Run” for crying out loud. Get in touch with the runner in you. Stream the beautifully braided artist’s latest single now, below.

RENÉ – Pretender (Submission)

I’m not one to pretend. Ask anyone who knows me. On the flip side, I come into contact with many people who play a role on a day-to-day basis. It is part of the territory. As far as the Londoner’s song goes, I won’t stand here and lie to you. I didn’t select it because I was in love with it. I chose to write about it because I liked her vocal work and the production, separately. I think she has the potential to go further with the right record placement and business guidance.

Jubël – Illusion

Whenever I’m in the middle of sleep comparable to a coma, I don’t want to be bothered. I wouldn’t advise anyone, who is close enough to see me sleep, to try me. Jubël, the Swedish producers (Sebastian and Victor), found a way to communicate that feeling in a song. Nonetheless, the vocalist on the track—NEIMY—is talking about being in a dream state. It’s similar to where you are, mentally, when you’re in love. You don’t want any interruptions. No one should try to shake you out of your hypnosis-like state because the state of reality isn’t as attractive. God bless you, guys. Keep us in trouble.

ELEON – If It Ain’t Me (Submission)

I can hear a former lover singing ELEON’s song to me, or blasting it from their car speakers. The creep is parked out front, waiting for my reaction. I have multiple answers prepared for the moment. Is that bad? That question is rhetorical. Seriously, I don’t want approval from anyone walking this green Earth. I may ask questions to make sure I am not bugging out, but other than that, no.

Cheshire Grimm – Slave to the Grind (Submission)(Bonus)

How many of us, worker bees, can relate to the title of this record? I mean, really. Cheshire Grimm, the Hamilton, New Zealand-based Ska/Alternative band, has a hell of a way of expressing themselves. Paired with intimidating bass, hallucinatory guitar riffs and hard-hitting drums, the vocalist sings about sticking to the script; Not allowing anyone to take you off of your path. Thank you. You’ve been a great addition to the fold. Finally, stream the record via this link.
