Depending on the director and the subject(s) in a video, black and white visuals can be a hit or miss with audiences. However, Johannson, NewLand and Seinabo Sey hit the nail on the head with this one. Filmed on a secluded beach, Seinabo Sey is seen admiring the water wearing a white ruffled dress. Seinabo’s deep vocals paired with calming views of waves hitting the shore creates a nice contrast.
The video also shows a scene with two shirtless African American men on the beach; one is standing while holding the other in his arms. These visuals may symbolize strength and freedom, but the mysteriousness of the video makes the message ambiguous. Although Jacob Banks’ vocals make the track a love song, it is much deeper than an average one.

It’s about wanting to be remembered for all of the good things, and hoping that you can walk out of a relationship – whether it be with myself in time, or with a person – feeling a sense of freedom.
