Riley Writtens – Vanessa Veasley Verses (Submission)
Brooklyn rapper Riley Writtens takes to a June Blaze beat to get descriptive about a woman he adores. Who is she? She’s Vanessa Veasley, a thirty-four-year-old published model and a former editor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Inspired by ‘Letter to Jhené Aiko’ by Ryshon Jones, Writtens also reveals his hopes and dreams, on wax, and shares that his screensaver is the image on the official cover art for the song. Heartracer – All At Once (Submission)
Created alongside the producer (Andrew Lappin) who also worked with Passion Pit, M83, and St Lucia, Heartracer made a catchy song that digs into what one feels like when they want to keep someone around.
Listen to Heartracer’s synth-heavy ‘All At Once’ below. Personally, it reminds me of just about all of the monster hits in the eighties. As I listened to the record, I could see the big hair full of hairspray and fluorescent tights. In my mind, there’s cute choreography and dated video editing that loops and makes an effort to match the thumps in the song. I think we’ve all had that sort of experience with someone we’ve loved. Therefore, we can relate to the lyrics.
‘All At Once’ was recorded in Hollywood, California at Sunset Sound Studios, a remarkable studio that Led Zeppelin, Kings of Leon, and The Rolling Stones recorded music. Five songs, in total, was recorded. Hopefully, we (you and I) will be able to hear them soon.
Sam Valdez – Farther Away (Submission)
‘You’re like a dream I had once.’ Quite literally I uttered something to someone like it last night. Once in a blue moon, we cross paths with people who remind us of ourselves, someone we’ve lost, or they project what we’d like to have in our future. Other times, I think it just represents the middle of the race—the moments before you get to your final destination—so you can reevaluate your current position. Los Angeles singer-songwriter, Sam Valdez, shared an ambient song called, ‘Farther Away’ some time ago. It is from her new extended play entitled, ‘Mirage’.
If you enjoy Lana Del Rey, more than likely, you will like what Sam Valdez makes. She grew up in the desert. Is it silly to say that I can hear the influence in the music? It sounds like nothing else is around. Just you, your complexities and the music.
In conclusion, you can also watch the official music video. It depicts what I described above, flawlessly. I received the record approximately two weeks ago. I didn’t see it until now.
BUHU – All Eye (Submission)
In what uniquely starts off like an ADULT. meets Michael Jackson record to me, BUHU brings it back with the vocal layering over the elevated sultry synth-pop instrumental—influenced by Tears for Fears and Phil Collins. ‘All Eye’ is the second single from ‘Tenets’, their debut album. Lulleaux – Missing You featuring NEIMY (Submission)
Short and sweet in its message, Lulleaux’s new track ‘Missing You’ featuring NEIMY has to be the best ‘I miss you’ song I’ve ever heard. It’s not sombre. There’s high-energy, and it doesn’t make you want to break down and cry like an infant. I am thankful for that. Thank you, Lulleaux and NEIMY. You’ve done it again.
Marc Benjamin & JPB – Devil in Disguise featuring Syon and Yung Fusion (Submission)
Devil in disguise, how many times have you come across someone who you thought was an angel and they turned out to be a fire-breathing demon? Well, producers, Marc Benjamin & JPB teamed up with Syon and Yung Fusion to encapsulate that experience in song. Fusing the usual Electronic sounds and changing up the tempo for the spoken word verse, the EDM track gives way for the dichotomy it draws inspiration. By the sounds of the lyrics, our foolish days are over. Stream the danceable track, that exposes the imperfections of a seemingly perfect lover below.
LIV †- Somethin (A Nod to Freddie Joachim)
