Coco Rocha, Christy Turlington, Kelly Rutherford, Jennie Garth, Melanie B, and more attend Nolcha Fashion Week: New York presented by RUSK
Nolcha Fashion Week: New York presented by RUSK has just wrapped its Spring-Summer 2014 season at Pier 59 Studios in Manhattan, featuring 19 designer runway shows and proving to be the independent fashion showcase’s most attention-grabbing season to date.
Trend-setting celebrities who were looking to take in some refreshing new talent this season, and came out to support independent fashion design included: Jennie Garth (90210), Christy Turlington (supermodel), Kelly Rutherford (Gossip Girl), Coco Rocha (supermodel), Melanie B (Spice Girls), Chloe Bridges (The Carrie Diaries), and Jeannie Mai (Style Network).
Shocking the audience, Jennie Garth walked in the 1:30PM runway show in support of Nolcha Fashion Week’s designer, Intrepid by AOC. Meanwhile, Christy Turlington was front row center to support activewear designer, Oiselle. Kelly Rutherford also came by to support UK womenswear brand, Claire Farwell London, and wore a dress by the designer.
SUBWAY® restaurants also mixed things up by challenging Nolcha Designers to create innovative garments made entirely out of SUBWAY® materials. A panel of celebrity judges including: Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin, Project Runway alum from Season 6 and All-Stars, Althea Harper, Raina Seitel, media personality and star of Style Network’s City Girl Diaries, Mrs. Connecticut 2013, Lori Ann Marchese, Melanie B. of the Spice Girls, and Jared “The Subway Guy,” critiqued the looks by four Nolcha designers, and ultimately chose the winner: Danilo Gabrielli.
Coco Rocha and Jeannie Mai sat front row for the closing show of the evening: Danilo Gabrielli, with Coco wearing a dress by Gabrielli. During the show, Danilo Gabrielli granted the 10,000th wish for Make-A-Wish Metro New York, for a 13-year-old girl with leukemia, named Katherine. Her wish was to be a fashion designer, and after working alongside each other leading up to Fashion Week, Gabrielli sent two dresses designed by Katherine down the runway and her dream came true.
Other notable guests included: Moises de la Renta (Oscar de la Renta’s son), Mechad Brooks (True Blood, Necessary Roughness), Kelly Brady (Miss USA 2013), Kristen Ruhlin (Actress), Mario Winans (Songwriter/Producer), Madame Mayhem (Recording Artist), and Jena Sims (Model).
