Fallen R&B star R Kelly, 55, sentenced to 30 years in Brooklyn court

Today, R Kelly, once the celebrated and decorated R&B icon, has been sentenced to thirty years for multiple sex crimes. The ‘Step in the Name of Life’ singer has been in jail since 2019. He is still facing child pornography and obstruction of justice charges in his home state. The trial is scheduled to begin on August 15.

Adding to his sentencing, he has been ordered to pay a fine of $100,000.

According to the Associated Press, the Chicago-native superstar used his fame to prey on young people/fans. He has been described as a sexual predator since the 1990s. In 2008, he was acquitted.
