Watch British rappers Pa Salieu and BackRoad Gee’s black-and-white war diary visual for ‘My Family’

As I continue to grow as a person entering different spaces from what’s native to me, I always find it imperative to remain rooted in the streets somehow. It is, for the most part, what makes me feel alive and happiest inside. An example of the energy I’ve described comes in the form of a powerful demonstration in British-Gambian recording artist Pa Salieu’s ‘My Family’ featuring British-Congolese artist BackRoad Gee. In the black-and-white video, the young men stand together as a family to express themselves and tell their story. There is a level of strength, vigour and conviction here that I feel will be difficult to capture as they grow as men and artists, so let’s take the time to understand that and enjoy this moment right now as intended.
