5@5: A morning playlist featuring Oral P and Reece West

This 5@5 morning playlist consists of GRAVEDGR, Reece West, Three Cities, and more.

GRAVEDGR – KAMIKAZE (Submission)

Although the wording of the song feels different to me today, I think we’ve all had those moments when we are so upset with whatever has temporarily defeated us in life that we would want to “catch a body [quick]”. GRAVEDGR’s ‘KAMIKAZE’ is for those moments in time. We don’t advise acting it out. Instead, play this song to help emit the aggression you may feel towards someone or something. It’ll affect fewer people in the world.

Oral P – Folake (Submission)

If you’re looking for a proper Afrobeat record to wake you up before you head to work in Wakanda, ‘Folake’ by Oral P should drive your spirits high! Listen to the multilingual love song below. It’s the Yoruba-speaking artist’s debut single, which released a year ago. It’s never too late to give certain music some love.

Pistol McFly – Meditation (Submission)

The line about having the patience to achieve success is something I wanted my viewers to hear, so without further ado, please, watch Pistol McFly’s official visual for the smooth single, ‘Meditation’ from ‘Road Trip’. The Los Angeles-based artist will tour with Blu, Choosey and Exile.

The song is about staying true to myself in the midst of life in South LA. Hustling to live, seeing friends get sidetracked, me trying to focus on my art, keeping it together to be able to bring my art to the people without giving up and losing my sanity. Ironically enough, it’s finally happening. If you’re reading this then my music will be heard. My only hope is you can find inspiration in it to keep your own personal hopes alive.

Reece West – Griezmann (Submission)

Who loves a good voice? Me. Who loves a well-edited visual with likeable direction? Me. So when Reece West’s new video showed up in my submission queue, immediately, I became hooked. The Grime artist took his talents to Turkey to create the visual aid for the Teddy Music & Heavytrackerz-production. Watch the North London-native rapper’s efforts for ‘Griezmann’ below. It came out less than a week ago!

Three Cities – Risky Chance (Submission)

If a man sang a song to me, in the style of ‘Risky Chance’, it would mean his infatuation with me runs deep. Could you imagine being serenaded by one of these guys? I would have enjoyed it; laughed entirely too hard. Anyway, watch Three Cities’ video for ‘Risky Chance’. It’s hilarious!

Dead Friends – Down For Good (Submission) (Bonus)

Are you down for good? Or are you not? Fortunately, I don’t have time to decipher anyone’s intentions. Meet me there, wherever I am, when you’ve figured yourselves and your loyalty out. Until then, stream the explosive track by Dead Friends now.

Drew Austin – Different Times (Submission) (Bonus)

If you’re a House freak, you will love ‘Different Times’ by Drew Austin. Play the vibrant tune by the British music producer below. It’s not long enough but will have to do.
