Watch: Nneka’s “My Love, My Love”

Nigeria is known for its cultivating style and music with such talents as Fela Kuti and the ever-so-smooth Sade. With so many emerging artists, none other has caught the mass attention as the Warri, Nigerian-native Nneka Egbuna, who simply goes by Nneka to her supporters. Since 2003, she has been working with DJ Farhot to produce a fusion style incorporating Afrobeat and Hip-Hop. The world latched on to the Soul songstress in 2004 while she performed with Reggae sensational star Sean Paul at Hamburg Stadtpark, after which she released her debut EP The Uncomfortable Truth. Soon after, her first recorded album was released entitled Victim of Truth. In more recent years, the African beaut has premiered several singles with her latest release My Love, My Love.

The song itself is self-explanatory while the visuals create a warm personal description of her relationship something reminiscent of Beyoncé’s video Flaws and All, yet it felt as if she truly documented her everyday life. In love and infatuated with life, the cameraman follows Nneka journey recording all things around her like a journal. Who’s to say if the actual hand behind the lenses is truly her main squeeze but the grace in her movements and the twinkle in her eyes spoke volumes every time he caught a glimpse. Love songs are a bit cliché and somewhat overbearing with its textbook definition now and days but Nneka vulnerability in her newest video reminds us how sweet it is to share My Love, My Love.

Nneka newest album My Fairy Tales can now be purchased on iTunes.
