Using his first name as the title of his new single, NLE Choppa—real name—Bryson Lashun Potts—goes back to the hood and church to reflect on his life through the art of storytelling. Young, but lyrically-equipped, the artist talks about his robust relationship with God, his karmic returns, and how his evolution. Going into detail, the Memphis artist brings attention to his vegan lifestyle, what self-hate does to someone, and even gives his thoughts on a woman wanting a Birkin bag, but not wanting to deal with his burdens. What I like most about NLE Choppa’s artistry is his outstanding ability to deliver concise thoughts over engrossing production. Watch the ethereal visual from his new album ‘From Dark to Light’ out today, which is his eighteenth birthday.
