Mick Jenkins released his single and the accompanying video for ‘Carefree’ off his upcoming project ‘The Circus’. The song shows off smooth production from Black Milk, meaningful content and an onslaught of tactful lyricism, which is the usual approach of the Chicago emcee. The video starts off with a view of the horizon as the sunsets and waves hit the sandy shores. Mick Jenkins, throughout, shows the reality of the Black man in today’s society, whether it’s spending time smoking with his friends, or simply taking a drive down the road, there is a target on the Black man’s back. Seemingly, police are always ready to attack. The ironic nature of the carefree Black man, as displayed by Mick Jenkins, is still a distant reality, and as he said:

If you living carefree, then you probably don’t look like us.

The single comes right before the kick-off of Mick Jenkins upcoming tour, which he will accompany EARTHGANG, and before the new release of his project ‘The Circus’ coming January 10. Be sure to check out the video for Mick Jenkins’ ‘Carefree’ below.
