For various reasons that don’t sit well with me, seasoned artists don’t usually embrace new artists until they have an undeniable cosign, they take them under their wing/sign them or they become viral sensations. And if it isn’t that, the older generations seem to want to discredit the evolution of a genre. Before the weekend, I hadn’t heard of MAEZ301, but I learned that his project ‘Nowhere’ caught the attention of Strange Music. In case some of you aren’t familiar with the American independent label, Tech N9ne and his business partner, Travis O’Guin launched it back in 1999. Now, the Maryland State native is a signee and appears in the official video for ‘Ay’ with label boss, Tech N9ne. Check it out below. Lastly, be on the lookout for ‘M’, his debut EP.
