M-Dot evokes pensive thoughts with “Chrissy”

Unfortunately, there are a lot of Chrissy’s out there.

n a heartbreaking visual, Boston-based rapper M-Dot narrates the story of a young woman named Chrissy who dropped out of high school and eventually, turned to drugs, alcohol, prostitution, and pornography. Although like many others who lead a fast-life, she appeared to have her life together to her friends and family, that wasn’t the case. As she chased fame and fortune, she lost herself.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of Chrissy’s out there. In all honesty, from what I know to be true and based on stories told by others, there are a lot of “actors” in the entertainment business. A handle of people has as much liquid cash as they claim. Not everyone is as lucky.

Throughout the video, there are flashbacks from Chrissy’s childhood. Just of her in a yard with a pet, and perhaps, a sibling but it makes a continuous return. Critically, I watched the video a few times. Outside of the sepia-toned clips appearing more than once, there wasn’t a sheer significant connection. Personally, I wanted to see what happened in Chrissy’s life at that time, but it didn’t come (visually). Was that moment her last memory of her pureness? Perhaps. I’ll leave that part for others to interpret.

Watch the official video for the song produced by the legendary Bronx-native producer Buckwild. The single comes from the rapper’s debut studio album: Ego and The Enemy (stylized as ‘egO anD The eneMy’). The seventeen-track album is out now. It also features production from Hi-Tek, Marley Marl, John Glass, and more.
