Lorde no longer performing at 2021 MTV Video Music Awards

The MTV Video Music Awards revealed on Friday, September 3, 2021 that Lorde’s scheduled performance on September 12 has been cancelled.

The announcement was made on Twitter by the awards ceremony’s organisers, who finished their formal statement with a yellow love emoji. They wrote:

Due to a change in production elements, Lorde can no longer perform at this year’s show. We love Lorde and cannot wait for her to perform on the VMA stage in the future! Yellow heart.

Last month, Lorde released Solar Power. Her video for the title track has been nominated for a VMA for Best Cinematography.
